Dozens of churches and a gigantic pyramid
What looks like a grassy hill is actually a giant pyramid, the world's biggest one. A tunnel goes through the middle of the Great Pyramid and takes you out to the other side. From there you can climb up to the top to the Church of the Los Remedios, and admire the view over the city, with its numerous churches. If it's a clear day, the volcano Popocatépetl can be seen looming up nearby.
Down in the centre is the large complex of the 16th Century Monastery of San Gabriel, with its yellow turreted walls. The Portal Guerrero flanks the main square with 46 arches, the longest arcade in Mexico. Cholula is also famous for some stunning Mexican baroque churches such as Santa Maria Tonantzintla and San Francisco Acatepec which will leave you with sensory overload.
