Fascinating cultures and crafts
A quarter of the people of Chiapas belong to eight main indigenous groups such as the Tzotzil and Tzetzal people, some with quite different beliefs, customs and traditions. Well-known for their weaving, textiles and pottery, they create colourful handcrafted products and folk art. Some of the most fascinating indigenous towns are San Juan Chamula, Zinacantán and Amatenango del Valle.
