Ancient site of the Aztec warriors
Malinalco, a 2-hour drive from Mexico City, is a picturesque Pueblo Mágico which boasts the site of ancient Aztec ruins high on the mountainside, an Ex-Convento with unique murals in the cloisters, a bustling market and cobbled streets lined with brightly-painted houses. During Mexican Independence celebrations, the whole town takes part in re-enacting the historical events, many on horseback.
